Talk:FamilyMessages
From Katrina Help Info
People Finder is making a 'missing' persons database. On "Family Messages" I often encounter posts in which person A is looking for person B and provides some contact information. I feel that we should in such case file a form for each of them, with person B being missing and person B being "found".
A 'survivor' from "family messages" is for me a person filed under 'primary id info' and then 'found'.
And unfortunately there is no post date, or a date for the first comment.
I'm looking forward for your comments. Tarkowski 06:24, 5 Sep 2005 (EDT)
Can't connect to "family messages", any one else with this problem?
I'm having problems too... keep trying, I think the server is overloaded.
I have a question re: phone fields. Many of mine have had more than one phone number listed for the survivor. Possible to add another field? (right now i'm including additional numbers in the Other field, hope that is ok). (user leswygant)
On the IRC we have had a question about how to do a FamilyMessages page. It seem like each of the remaining unclaimed pages goes to the same page on the site, not to a chunk of names. Can someone give some advice? Thanks (user NancyWhite)
It looks like each unclaimed page tells you to do a certain number of posts (mine says 3760-3784). If you scroll over the names, you can see that each one has a post number on the right of the html address for that post (which should change at the bottom of your screen). If someone has better terminology for this, please feel free to edit my advice. The best I've figured out is that you can scroll over and enter the posts you're assigned, which are unfortunately scattered throughout the many "states" in the missing list.

I am new...do I use the Data Entry Form from the main FamilyMessages page that lists the chunks or do I use the link from within the chunk (links to New Orleans Network)? If I use the Data Entry Form, how do I get around the required "Source Date" field? If I use the New Orleans Network, I am having problems logging in.
