Group Goals

  • Outreach/Recruitment: generate awareness of and traffic to KPF so that it gets more volunteers when necessary, and gets used by / benefits maximimum possible number of end-users
  • Communications: Ensure the description of KPF project and how to get involved and how to use it is clear and conistent wherever it is being publicized and discussed
  • Media Relations: handle and generate relationships w/ press both to generate publicity and to solicit help getting PFIF data format used
  • Long-Term Impact: Help other groups learn of and learn how to leverage the work of KPF for other applications in the future, including future disasters in other geographies around the world

Recruit Press point person to organize the following work at PeopleFinderPress:

    • Write daily press release with project updates (even if we issue it only on the site)

    • Open lines of communication w/ media that are posting their own People data to get them to reformat it in PFIF format

Recruit grassroots marketing point person to organize the following work at PeopleFinderOutreachLists:

    • Generate outreach list at PeopleFinderOutreachLists-- the lists and orgs we'll contact with any important KPF announcements or solicitations
    • Coordinate offline marketing/outreach-- figure out how to reach people in affected communities who are not likely to be online through community hotlines, etc.

Recruit Web marketing point person to organize the following work at PeopleFinderWeb:

    • Ensure KPF site maximizes reusability for future projects, and helps maximum number of people be able to contribute to it (suggest Drupal in order to achieve these goals and also to leverage grassroots marketing buzz available from CivicSpace community)
    • Create and disseminate logos, buttons, etc and get them publicized on large community websites such as CivicSpaceLabs.org, Drupal.org, etc.
    • Implement most effective and privacy-respectful plan to grow the KPF list for use in generating follow-on projects and impact: capture contact info of people that want to keep appraised of / are interested in / use KPF, solicit list sign-ups, etc.
    • UPDATE: JON LEBKOWSKY SAYS HE HAS THE BAYOSPHERE RESPONSE COVERED: Respond to Privacy Concern post on Bayosphere Blog and generate our privacy statement to post on our website; details at PeopleFinderPrivacy

Post Announcements/Solicit Button Placement Etc.

    • Place on relevant web sites, mailing lists and communities
    • log your work and post work you're asking others to take on at PeopleFinderOutreachLists===

Contact tech companies

  • Solicit corporate contributions, including manpower and expertise.
  • We need someone to try to get in touch with the companies mentioned in the article below and inform them about the project.
