All Animal Rescuers in NOLA Must be Credentialed by LA SPCA
From the New Orleans Mayor's Office
October 20, 2005 Situational Report

Domestic animals

Volunteer animal rescue groups wishing to assist the Louisiana SPCA will be required to have credentials issued by the Louisiana SPCA. Those found trespassing on personal property without LA/SPCA credentials will be arrested.

The LA/SPCA continues its transition to the new Algiers facility. Citizens are encouraged to feed and water any strays they see roaming the streets. However, no one should approach stray animals as they are hungry and could pose a danger.

All animals not reunited with their families are available for adoption.

Please crosspost.

Hi Sandra:

Your questions do not "bug" me. Anything to do with helping these animals is important. Did someone get to Spinnaker?

Is it in N.O. or St. Bernard?

I am wondering because I probably could go here tomorrow if it is in N.O.

I understand they have threatened to arrest any animal rescuers in St. Bernard. I figured this was coming. They gave me a hard time on Friday, but did let me in eventually. I will have to go the "back"way on Monday as I still have animals out there that need food and water and to be trapped.

Law enforcement is making it harder for the animals in St. Bernard Parish. They are a strange bunch out there. Very secretive. After all the stuff came out about the shootings again Monday. I knew they would start their crap. I went with the Bozes family, Mark from pasados, and CNN to the parish council meeting, then we went to do an interview with John at Beauregard School. The cops are squirming now. Shoot, in a couple of weeks there will be no cops or animal control out there. They cannot pay their salaries. Unless their officials want to work for free and I doubt that. How any city in AMERICA can refuse the Help of Animal rescue is BEYOND ME. I think if this is true, it needs some media coverage too, so that Americans can see how the animals are being blatantly neglected here. Also, people are still finding their family pets shot dead in their homes, the list is growing daily. That is another thing they want to hide is that they are continuing to shoot pets even now at night. To them it is a twisted sport as Mark from Pasados put it on CNN. I feel like I am in a third world country when I go over there. Waiting for the dictator to tell everyone what they can and can't do. It is awful.

Feel free to x post this. We need help to ensure that animal rescuers can continue to feed and rescue the animals of St. Bernard. Mark from Winn Dixie went out today and came back with a message from the Sheriff's dept. saying that the only ones allowed to rescue in St. Bernard is THEIR animal control. Anyone else will be arrested. Let me tell you I have been rescuing in St. Bernard for nearly two months, on almost every street. I have never once come into contact with any one from their Animal control out there rescuing. In fact they shipped all the animals they had staged at Chalmette High out about a week ago. They are not rescuing out there. People from St. Bernard are still requesting rescue of their pets. We need to be able to help these people and their pets.
