Jackson, MS: My misplaced dog needs a home 21:10
Date: Tue, 04 Oct 2005 21:10:13 -0000 From: "darby_elyse" mailto:darby_elyse@yahoo-dot-com Subject: My misplaced dog needs a home
Tidus is a 1.5 year old Irish Wolfhound mix. He is currently held up In Jackson, Mississippi. Where I have relocated will not allow me to bring him here and my friends can't keep him. Please contact me if you are interested, I have a pic I can send. He is a good dog, very playful, but needs a nice yard and a nice family to care for him. I can be reached at 504-915-9154, at my email mailto:darby_elyse@hotmail-dot-com , or you can contact Mike Boggan at 601-845-8142. Please help if you can, I don't want to have to take him to a shelter where he may be euthanized.
AZ my offer to foster/adopt still stands 19:31

If you have rescued a pet from the Katrina disaster only to realize it will be put down due to no space, you are welcome to bring or ship the pet to me in Arizona.
I will assist you in the cost of transport. I was a volunteer for years for the AZSPCA and know what it's like to rescue a pet from near death, have it treated by a vet, and then later be instructed to transport it to the pound because there is no room.
I always volunteered to take them home instead and find them a new family or keep them myself. I still rescue pets on my own, and I own a horse property located south of Gilbert, AZ.
All I ask for is a copy of the paperwork. Please feel free to contact me at: mailto:lanlch@aol-dot-com .
Thank you,
Lana
Galveston County Shelter Needs Volunteers To Help At The Shelter Now 17:40

GALVESTON COUNTY SHELTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS TO HELP AT THE SHELTER NOW
http://www.gcas.petfinder.com/
The shelter is being overwhelmed with dogs and cats right now--more arrive every day, owner turn-ins from both hurricanes. Right now they need people to help with phones, paperwork, possibly work on updating their petfinder postings which are totally out of date, and just generally pitch in, because they do not have enough staff for this many animals.
They are struggling to all at once care for the animals and work on finding homes and rescue organizations that can take in these dogs and cats. They are a kill shelter, and will have to start euthanizing animals if they cannot place a bunch of them soon. If you can help the staff keep the shelter running so they can focus on making the arrangements to transport pets to safe homes, you will be saving lives.
They will need even more help next week because some of the staff are being sent to Louisiana to help with the pet situation there!
If you can donate a day or two, or even an hour or two, please just go to the shelter and ask for Alexis Lott. She is running the day to day operations there and will put you to work. You can also try to call her first, but they are so swamped you may have a hard time getting through.
Here is the shelter address and phone, (info and map also on the shelter link above)

Storm Survivors online 15:13
Date: Tue, 4 Oct 2005 15:13:52 EDT From: mailto:spencetop@aol-dot-com Subject: Storm Survivors online
I am finding groups online also of storm victims who are organizing themselves and finding friends, neighbors and family scattered across the country. So, victims are just now getting back online and reaching out.
Yahoo groups has a section dedicated to this and there are groups for each parish, town etc. There is even one for the Beauregard School Employees...
There are several sites and blogs in which St. Bernard Parish are just coming online.
So, let's not give up! Other people were on that bus, other people lost their dogs too from that same location. We just need fresh clues and they will be coming! We just have to be patient.
