NDARS · National Disaster Animal Relief & Supply
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NDARS/
National Disaster Animal Relief & Supply (NDARS) is a group of volunteers providing Foster Care, Supplies (crates, food, medical items), and other items needed for Major Disasters, such as Katrina was. There will be a coordinator for every state involved, as well as a central database to volunteer goods or services.
There will also be listings of Vets that are willing to provide low cost assistance and/or boarding. All suggestions are welcome, and encouraged. It will take ALL OF US to make this work.
Each state will have reps to coordinate the organizing and distribution of supplies to needed areas. Please list your information into whichever database you can assist with.
We are starting out with open membership, so that as many as possible can come on board.
Roicy Pics Are Up....Deadline Monday, March 20 At 5 PM and PTS Tuesday
Date: Sat, 18 Mar 2006 13:00:39 -0600 From: "Debbie" <rescuerealtor @cox .net> Roicy Pics Are Up....Deadline Monday, March 20 At 5 PM and PTS Tuesday For Those Not Held Over http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Katrina-Pet-Rescue-info/
Roicy pics are up. Please take a look and see if you can help anybody. The Shih Tzu and Yorkie or Silkie mix(there is a lady here who breeds huge Yorkies) should have lots of interested parties. There are 3 beautiful and sweet cats. The adult cats don't always get adopted, especially the black ones, and only a couple of rescues will take them...and they stay over full. The little gray and white owner surrender kitty is real sad. There are several owner surrendered dogs, including the very sweet little brown dog with the socks(very likely to get left behind), the Beagle mix, the dog they are calling a Terrier/Spaniel but he looks Pointer mix to me(this one is completely brokenhearted), and the Yorkie mix. The Lab sisters are being called mixes, but I think they are purebred and gorgeous. They hold over if there is space, but with 12 adoption kennels for a parish that has grown by 30,000 or so since the hurricanes, there is just no space and the animals continue to come in each day. Rescue must provide proof of 501 status and adoption/spay/neuter policies in advance to Virginia Lee, the director, at fax 337 -291 -7051. Rescue can pull anytime, but must be there by 3 PM. Please do not call the shelter and ask if they can hold the dog for you until you have arranged transport, or have the animal shipped to you. This is not possible, and adds to the volume of phone calls being answered by a very limited staff. Please forward to any legit rescue group who has the ability to get to Roicy by Monday or has rescue contacts here to help, or to those individuals who would provide a good home. Documentation of spay/neuter and rabies shot will be required within 30 days, unless the animal is too young or gets sick. Once again, these are wonderful animals, some of which might have only Monday to get adopted. Please try to help.

3,400 Bales of Donated Hay awaiting transport
Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2006 18:27:37 -0000 From: "bayourescue" <bayourescue @yahoo .com> Subject: 3,400 Bales of Donated Hay awaiting transport Forum: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Katrina-Pet-Rescue-info/
URGENT
Bayou Rescue is seeking hero transporters to deliver portions of 3,400 bales of hay that have been donated for Vermillion Parrish and the Gulfport, MS area. A generous donor in Mocksville NC offered this desperately needed gift almost a month ago, but despite hundreds of emails and many phone calls, we still don't have any transport. The hay will need to be transported in 48' trailers, and about 6 trailers are needed for all the hay.
We've been told we're more likely to have commitment if we could offer some $ to help with fuel costs. If you or your company would like to sponsor a couple of trailers OR if you can transport even one trailer of hay, please contact volunteer Ann Jordan: 704 -287 -7512 daytime, 704 -485 -4344 nights or email: <annj @cgraphics .com>, or <bayourescue @yahoo .com>
Bayou Rescue is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to providing disaster relief to animals and their caretakers. All monetary and in-kind donations are tax-deductible. For more information, see: http://www.bayourescue.typepad.com/
Checks can be made to:
Bayou Rescue 10405 Hwy 105 S Banner Elk, NC 28604. Please mark "Hay Transport" on the subject line on checks.
