Roicy pics are up....please take a look and see if you can help anybody. There are some awesome animals, as usual...any would make an outstanding pet for a family. The dogs are all very gentle. The Husky is a typical Husky....lots of energy and personality. The cats are sooooo sweet. Unless the shelter holds over, these will have to be out by 5 PM on Monday, Feb. 6, with PTS Tuesday morning. Rescue can pull at anytime, but must have non profit paperwork faxed in advance and be at the shelter before 3 PM. You are required to get the animals vaccinated against rabies within 72 hrs, and have the animal altered within 30. Proof will need to be sent to Virginia. If the animal is sick, and cannot have the surgery within that time period, have the vet sign a statement to that affect...no prob. CASH only. Animals cannot be shipped to you. Unless you are in a position to come to the shelter, or know someone who is, please do not tie up the phone lines. It is making it difficult for those who are within driving distance to get through. However, if you have contact with rescue groups still in NOLA who might be able to help, please call them. We are about 2.5 hrs west.

Thanks to all who have donated Kuranda beds. A few have come in, and it is so wonderful to see the dogs dry and comfortable. They need many more, though, and all sizes are needed. Not only does it keep the animals off the cement, but it helps them to show up better, especially the black dogs. There were several black pups adopted last week, and I really think it is because they look so cute against the bright blue beds. Roicy is listed as Lafayette Animal Control Center.

Hi, Everyone! My name is Michele Rawls, and I'm starting a website called Kritter Fitters, that will list all animal rescues, for all types of animals. I will have not only links, but a hotlist for animals that are in the kill shelters, that will be updated atleast 5 times a week, so that we can get exposure, for the animals that are on "death row". I will also have a 24 hour contact email, if there is an animal that we need to get listed immediately, and that animal will then be emailed to all rescues listed as a broadcast, so that we can with less duplication of posts, make sure that these animals get the most effective rescue coverage, therefore getting them the most effective chance for help. I am offering free listings to all rescues, along with free listings of animals, and "hotlist" animals.

Please check out my site http://www.kritterfitters.com/ , and be patient, because we are still under contruction, as about every page currently states(smile)...I have bought this domain for 10 years, and purchased the web hosting for 1 year, so this is something that I'm very serious about doing. I want so badly to do something for our animal friends, but am limited in other ways, because I have ms, and other health issues that make it unsafe for me to run a rescue myself, not to mention a full time job, a toddler, a husband, 2 cats, 1 senegal parrot, and 1 yellow-collared macaw to keep me busy. This is the only way that I can think of to help make a difference, and assist the ones doing the real rescue work.

I need your input, listings, any ideas, and suggestions. I cannot do this without your assistance. Please feel free to visit my site, and join the yahoo group listed on the website, there are places to begin listing there. I am distributing business cards in my area, and would be happy to send or email some to anyone that would be interested in getting the word out there among possible adoptive or foster families. You may see this email more than once since I'm posting it to all of the rescue groups that I'm a member of, to give everyone a chance to get onboard.
