Humane Society of Louisiana asking for help with Katrina Rottweilers (Jan 3)
From: Shelli Brooks <gapetlover @yahoo .com> Date: 01/03/06 00:18:14 Humane Society of Louisiana asking for help with Katrina Rottweilers Forum: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gulfcoast_rescue_n_transport/
The Humane Society of Louisiana, located in Tylertown, MS has several purebred Rottweilers which still need to be placed with reputable rescue.
Any group able to help in placing these sweet victims of the hurricane into rescues, foster homes and eventually loving forever homes should contact Johnna Harris, animal care supervisor at: 601-876-2781 or cell numbers: 901-268- 4575 and 504-521-8777.
Most of them are HW+, but Merial has pledged to provide HW meds at no cost for Katrina dogs, so hopefully any expense would be minimal.
- Tiffany
- Female. Less than a year old, about 70 pounds. Very pretty, very affectionate. Spayed, HW+. She was attacked by dogs before she was rescued, but has been treated and has no significant injuries. She is a camp favorite - apparently a really gorgeous dog with a wonderful personality. Very, very adoptable.
- Sampson
- Male. Guessed to be about 2, about 95 pounds. Very sweet. Neutered and HW NEG. He was found with his collar attached directly to a fence. He's now battling pneumonia.
- Duchess
- Female. Guessed to be about 6, 80-85 pounds. Wary with new people but very affectionate when she knows you. Has shown some protective behavior toward toys. Spayed, HW +.
- Julius
- Male. 2 yrs old, about 90 pounds. Wary around some men, very sweet with all women (probably belonged to a single woman.) Is neutered, HW+. Is case by case with other dogs.
- Ginger
- Female, 7 or 8. 85 lbs. She was clearly bred quite a lot. She has some arthritis. She is very, very sweet - a hugger. Is case by case with other dogs. She is not yet spayed, HW+. We'd really like to get this dog into foster care.
- Velvet
- Older female, around 73 lbs, very very sweet couch potato. Has some arthritis. Must be only pet. This dog loves and needs to be inside. We would like her to go directly into a foster home home.

Subject: Emergency/Need transport of 2 boxers from Lake Charles
to Beaumont on Thursday to save their lives
I had a rescue from the Houston area who was going to take some dogs from the Vermilion shelter on Thursday. She has back out of that offer. I had asked her to give a ride to 2 boxers going to boxer rescue. Now not only are the dogs in Vermilion in great jeopardy of being put down but the 2 boxers as well if I can't get them a ride. They have a ride from Beaumont to Houston so I just need Lake Charles to Beaumont.
